Hummer H3
The Hummer H3 is the third member of the Hummer family; a group of cars that can trace their ancestry back to the military Hummer, a vehicle designed for the United States armed forces and formally known as the M998 HMMWV. When the AM General Corporation (formerly the military and government vehicle division of the American Motors company) decided to make a HMMWV for the civilian market, they named it Hummer. The first Hummers were manufactured at their facility in South Bend, Indiana.
As, mentioned above, the Hummer 3 - H3 is the third vehicle in the Hummer series and it is also the smallest. The Hummer H1 and Hummer H2 are both much larger than the little H3, and the H3 has been marketed more as a standard SUV with a military twist than a military vehicle for the civilian market. On the U.S. market, the basic Hummer H3 price ranges from $29,500 to right above $40,000.
Before you go ahead and buy a Hummer H3, you should ask yourself if your gas budget is big enough. Despite being smaller than the H1 and H2, the H3 steel consumes vast amounts of gas and the Hummer H3 gas mileage is nothing to cheer about. If you need a versatile 4-wheel drive that can deliver even in rough terrain you might be prepared to pay the price in the form of increased gas tabs, but if you only plan on driving from the suburbs to the office you might be better off with something else.
